Collectible Firearms Auction to Benefit NRA's Competitive Shooting & National Championships Endowment
Firearms collectors have an opportunity to add historic Springfield pieces to their collections while simultaneously helping to secure the future of competitive shooting sports, the National Rifle Association of America announced today.

The NRA and Springfield Armory have teamed to offer the first Springfield Camp Perry Centennial Special Edition M1A rifle and 1911 pistol commemorative collectors' sets. A portion of each purchase will go to the NRA Competitive Shooting & National Championships Endowment to ensure that competitive shooting will thrive for generations to come.

One exclusive set will be sold at auction on May 18, 2008. Firearms collectors and competitive shooters are expected to turn out in record numbers to participate in the auction, which will take place during the 2008 NRA Annual Meeting & Exhibits in Louisville, Kentucky.

All 25 sets include the special edition 1911 pistols and M1A rifles, which feature engravings commemorating the NRA, competitive shooting, and Springfield Armory. Each set comes with a handsome leather case and a certificate signed by NRA President John Sigler and Springfield Armory co-CEO Dennis Reese.

The serial number "1" set is now available exclusively for bidding at 8601720. The bidding will close at noon (PDT)/3:00 p.m. (EDT) on May 18, 2008, with the winning bid announced during the NRA's Annual Meeting.

Sets with serial numbers 2 through 25 will be available for purchase through the NRA. Please call Jamie Herman at (703) 267-1125 for more information or to place an order.
