NRA Women’s Wilderness Escape to Debut at Whittington Center July 16-24
Fifty women registered to attend the first annual NRA Women's Wilderness Escape will gather at the NRA Whittington Center in Raton, New Mexico, for nine days of firearm education and outdoor survival skills. The week of July 16-24 will feature pistol, shotgun, muzzle loading, and rifle courses, all against the mountainous backdrop of the Whittington Center’s 33,000 acres in New Mexico's high mesa country.

The event filled to capacity shortly after registration opened, illustrating a high demand for women's programming. The NRA plans to model future events in a similar structure.

"Women are a big part of hunting's future," NRA Executive Director Kayne Robinson said. "The NRA is pleased to unveil the first-ever Women’s Wilderness Escape because it offers women exposure to an array of shooting events under the instruction of some of the most skilled firearms experts in the nation."

In addition to sharing the educational component of the trip, participants will sleep under the stars and in rustic log cabins and end each vigorous day around the campfire.
