U.S. Border Patrol Agent Wins NRA National Police Shooting Championships
U.S. Border Patrol Agent Robert M. Vadasz outshot more than 400 fellow law enforcement officials to become the 46th National Police Shooting Champion.

The National Police Shooting Championships, or NPSC, concluded this week at the Shooting Range Park in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Vadasz, of Tampa, Florida, was honored at Wednesday evening’s Awards Ceremony.

In accepting his award, Vadasz thanked the U.S. Border Patrol. “I appreciate this opportunity to thank the U.S. Border Patrol, for teaching me more than I would have ever taught myself,” he said.

With a cumulative score of 2980-195x, Vadasz has not broken any national records, but he has extended an NRA competition winning streak. In May, he won the Metallic Sight championship of the NRA Bianchi Cup in Columbia, Missouri.

“We congratulate Robert on his stellar performance this week,” NRA’s Law Enforcement Activities Division Director Glen Hoyer said. “By promoting the issue of competition as an extension of training, he is setting an example not only for his colleagues in the Border Patrol, but in the greater law enforcement family.”

Wednesday’s NPSC ceremony awarded more than $250,000 in trophies and prizes, offering competitors one of the finest prize tables in all of law enforcement competitive shooting. The NRA is thankful for the continued response of major NPSC sponsors, including Brownells, ProForce Law Enforcement, FNH-USA, Beretta-USA, Heckler & Koch, Smith & Wesson, Glock, Springfield Armory, DPMS Panther Arms, and Colt.

The value of NRA's National Police Shooting Championships lies in the fact that this competition realistically tests law enforcement shooting skills. Starting with guns holstered, competitors fire timed matches with both revolvers and semi-automatic pistols from varying distances and positions.

Held since 1962, the National Police Shooting Championship matches are just one of many programs directed by NRA’s Law Enforcement Activities Division (LEAD). These programs are supported by the Davidson’s Law Enforcement Endowment and the Law Enforcement Training Endowment of The NRA Foundation, including a generous $251,000 donation from Brownells, Inc., as well as donations from more than 100 other firearm and equipment manufacturers and businesses.
